Chat was made by Robin, my ex-neighbour. These are his comments:
Here is a little piece of software I wrote when I had nothing better to do. It is a multi-user, multi-window, multi-channel chat program that runs on top of IPX. Features include:
It is a broadcast-only application, so be careful with large networks. A rudimentary form of encryption is implemented but don't count on it to be secure enough for communicating confidential information using this medium. Nonetheless, I hope you find this program useful, there is no copyright so give it to anyone you like (don't charge anything, it isn't worth it).
Chat is very useful to make contact with fellow players when starting a network game in plain DOS. Often these games demand a lot of memory, so there's no room for the complete Novell software. Like most games, Chat only needs the IPX driver.
You can tell Chat to use a different IPX-socket with a parameter between 1 and 50 (privat chat) and it has been tested in a Win-DosBox.
